Mestre Valmir

Mestre Valmir, Born on August 27, 1965 in the city of Salvador da Bahia, Valmir Santos Damasceno entered the world of Capoeira Angola in 1982 when he began training with
the Group of Capoeira Angola Pelourinho (GCAP) with Mestre Moraes and Mestre Cobra Mansa.

In 1992, he received the title of Contra-Mestre while working on Capoeira Angola related projects with different social organazations, including the Association of Free Residents
of Mangueira (ALMM), the Foundation of the Young Worker (FAMEB), Project Axe, and others.

In 1994, he left GCAP and in that same year, began his own group that later along with Mestre Cobra Mansa, formed the International Capoeira Angola Foundation.

In August 2003, he received the title of Mestre at the 9th Annual International Capoeira
Angola conference in Belo Horizonte.
