The International Capoeira Angola Foundation's
objective is to maintain a headquarters and research center
in Washington, D.C. to formalize its role as an academic
and socio-multi-media library with the creation of a distribution
center for instruments and publications. This multi-purpose
center serves as a Capoeira Angola training school, a lecture
series venue, a music, language, art/craft school and an
archive research library. ICAF has established a documentation
and audiovisual center on Capoeira Angola, and other related
topics such as the Black movements in the United States
and Brazil, child development, education, and the African
Diaspora. The Foundation assists in the development of Capoeira
study groups in other parts of the United States, Brazil,
and Europe. The library has more than 200 books and numerous
articles covering Capoeira and related topics. Our video
library has about 200 videos about Afro-Brazilian Culture
(Capoeira, Condomble, Samba) in English and Portuguese.
